Description
Farrons are delighted to offer for sale 'The Old School House'. A charming detached house set in approximately half an acre of delightful and well tended gardens in the heart of Wick St Lawrence Village. The original property was purpose built as a school in 1825 by Rev. Joseph Haythorne. We understand that the first documented history was in 1216 when the then Bishop of Bath and Glastonbury gifted the land to Wick St Lawrence church by way of Glebe. Two properties believed to be medieval, were constructed on the site. There is however, evidence to show that the land supported buildings during Roman occupation. The property ceased to be glebe upon its sale into private hands in 1953.
The accommodation briefly comprises: Entrance hall, lounge, study/bedroom 4, dining room, games room with full size snooker table (negotiable), kitchen/breakfast room, utility room with w/c, first floor landing with picture window overlooking the rear garden. Master bedroom with en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe, 2 further bedrooms and family bathroom. The mature and private gardens are a particular feature of the property and extend to approximately ½ an acre with sweeping lawns, paved patio with stone well and an abundance of trees, shrubs and flower beds. There is a tandem garage and additional parking area to the side of the property. This really is a 'MUST SEE' property.
